Housing
CSP provides various Housing programs to help working families secure decent, safe, and affordable housing, as well as services like the Weatherization Assistance Program and Financial Capabilities Program.
CSP Rentals
Innovative programs are increasingly necessary to provide working families the opportunity to obtain decent, safe and affordable housing. Since its community development efforts began, CSP has led an effort to resolve inadequate housing stock in Tuscaloosa and a number of rural communities. Family oriented apartment communities and opportunities for home ownership are important components of a stable community.
Housing Rehabilitation
CSP administers the Weatherization Assistance Program to eligible households in Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Pickens, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa Counties. Funding and eligibility are determined by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA).
Financial Capabilities
Financial Capabilities Program mission is to assist consumers in developing their financial goal setting, financial management, and financial planning skills. Financial Capabilities Program targets low-income and vulnerable populations that lack skills to adequately manage household income and resources by providing educational workshops regarding managing household budgets, personal credit, and consumer financing.
Housing Stability Counseling Program (HSCP) with NeighborWorks America
The Housing Stability Counseling Program (HSCP) provides critical support to individuals and families facing housing challenges such as foreclosure, eviction, or homelessness. Through personalized counseling and guidance, HSCP assists with navigating rental and mortgage issues, preventing evictions, and fostering long-term housing stability. Our program empowers participants with the tools and resources they need to maintain safe, secure housing, helping to build stronger communities across West Alabama. CSP was awarded a total grant amount of over $284,000 to help serve over 300 clients in West Alabama in 2024.
